The deputy governor of the Russian region of Kherson, Vitaly Bulyuk, is hospitalized and his driver is dead, after their vehicle hit a mine on Monday, according to local authorities. Bulyuk has been in charge of economic and financial issues in the former Ukrainian region which joined Russia this fall.
Bulyuk was injured and his condition is “moderate but stable” Vadim Ilmiev, the region’s health minister, told reporters. “He’s in one of the regional hospitals.”
