Denouncing a “political recovery”, the mayor of Saint-Brevin dries up the support march – Reception of refugees: threatened, the mayor of Saint-Brevin leaves

The resigning mayor of Saint-Brevin, Yannick Morez, announced Tuesday in a press release that neither he nor the municipal team will take part in the support march organized this Wednesday at 5 p.m. in his town.

He thanks the mayors and representatives of communities at the initiative of this gathering organized to denounce the violence against elected officials. But he regrets that this initiative is not unanimous: “I nevertheless regret the political recovery, in particular by the far left, of this march which was initially intended to be transpartisan. I also regret the discretion of the right on this theme.

He also specifies that he will speak in front of the town hall at 6 p.m. “in order to show my gratitude to the many people who have given me their support, and in the first place the Brevinoises and the Brevinois”.

Yannick Morez left office following the arson attack on his home. He was the target of pressure from the far right, which is protesting against the move, near a school, of the reception center for asylum seekers.
