Democrats choose a new president of the party, Ken Martin of Minnesota: NPR

After a discreet election among the members of the National Democratic Committee, a majority chose the president of the Minnesota Democratic-Agricole Party as its new Party President.

Who ran for chair?

Of the 428 votes cast, Martin won 246.5 while Wikler won 134.5 and O’malley won 44. The 3 remaining votes were devoted to other candidates.

What about the other offices?

The members of the DNC also elect a treasurer, a secretary and a national finance president, a vice-president of civic engagement and the participation of voters and three vice-presidents.

Party rules also indicate that “DNC officers are just as divided as possible according to sex”, which means that candidates for the three vice-president positions can be limited according to who wins the other positions.

Who voted for the leadership of the DNC?

There are currently 448 voting members of the DNC, and although there is no official public list of names, more than half of the voting population comes from the president, the vice-president and the members of the National Committee of Each of the American states and territories, as well as as a democrats abroad.

The heads of affiliated groups as the young Democrats of America are also members. The others are large -scale members who include longtime party personalities, union leaders and other links with former president Joe Biden.
