Democratic strategist James Carville says Republicans support Israel because ‘Jews are whiter than Palestinians’
Democratic strategist James Carville believes that racism is the real reason for the Republican Party’s strong support for Israel over the Palestinians.
On the latest episode of the “Politics War Room” podcast, Carville and co-host Al Hunt explained why there is a disparity in support for Israel between the Republican and Democratic parties, saying that Republicans are much more united in their support for the country because its citizens are “whiter.”
“And the reason I suspect most of these people describe themselves as pro-Israel is because Jews are whiter than Palestinians,” he told Hunt.

The topic came up during a question-and-answer session where Hunt read out a question from a guest asking how a party that has “openly embraced” the “alt-right” and “neo-Nazis” can present itself as the “most pro-Israel party.”
Carville responded that the party’s racism drives it to support Israel.
“It’s really about misogyny and racism that’s driving this, and we have to acknowledge that. It’s not about some kind of policy prescription,” he said, adding that the GOP supports “whiter” Jews over Palestinians.
The strategist then explained why pro-Palestinian protesters choose to focus on disrupting Democratic Party events, when the GOP is much more supportive of Israel.
Quoting a pro-Palestinian activist to explain the dynamic, he said: “The reason they say we’re targeting Democrats is we think they’d be more open-minded about it. But we’re not going to do anything to Republicans because we’re not going to have any leverage.”

Carville reminded listeners that a contingent of anti-Israel agitators were planning to demonstrate at the Democratic National Convention next week, and also mentioned how states like Michigan posed electoral challenges for the party because of its Muslim population.
The strategist expressed frustration that the Democratic Party has to deal with this situation, while the Republican Party doesn’t have to. “Well, that’s just political bullshit.”
“So you’re going to hurt the person who actually has the best chance of resolving this problem satisfactorily, because you can’t influence the other person,” he said.
“I don’t understand the logic, I don’t understand the logic at all. I just don’t get it.”
Earlier this year, Carville warned that pro-Palestinian voters would stage a protest vote in the Michigan Democratic primary against the Biden/Harris administration because of its continued support for Israel in its war against Hamas.
“Whatever happens, I know it’s a huge problem. And the people who aren’t engaged are going to do pretty well,” Carville told MSNBC host Jen Psaki in February.
