Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with a corruption case linked to Delhi’s excise policy. The arrest took place at Tihar jail, where Kejriwal has been detained since June 2.

The development comes on the eve of a Supreme Court hearing on Kejriwal’s bail plea in a related money laundering case. The Delhi HC had recently stayed his bail, initially granted by a lower court, citing concerns over the evidence presented by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Kejriwal’s legal woes began when the ED arrested him on March 21, alleging money laundering linked to irregularities in Delhi’s excise policy. Despite being granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in May to participate in election campaigns, Kejriwal voluntarily returned to Tihar jail in early June.
