Australian actress Deborra-Lee Furness said that “compassion went to all those who crossed the traumatic trip of betrayal”, after having a divorce from her husband Hugh Jackman.
In a statement published in the media, Furness, 69, said: “It is a deep injury that cuts deeply, but I believe in a superior power and that God / the universe … always works for us.”
The couple asked for divorce in New York on May 23. They announced their separation in September 2023 after 27 years of marriage.
Hugh Jackman, better known to play Wolverine in the X-Men films series, did not respond directly to the Furness Declaration.
Furness said that she had acquired “a lot of knowledge and wisdom” of the “depression” of her marriage to Jackman, 56.
“Sometimes the universe must create arduous circumstances to cross in order to find our way home, return to our true essence and the sovereignty of self -love.”
“It can hurt, but in the long term, return to yourself and live in your own integrity, your values and your borders is liberation and freedom,” she added, in the press release issued for the first time at the Daily Mail.
When Furness and Jackman announced their separation in 2023, The couple published a joint declaration What they said was “the only statement we will make”.
“Our trip is now changing and we have decided to separate from continuing our individual growth … We are undertaking this next chapter with gratitude, love and kindness,” they said at the time.
The couple met on the set of the Australian television show Corelli in 1995, shortly after Jackman left dramatic school.
They got married the following year and then adopted two children.
Since Furness published the Declaration, Jackman, currently played in New York, published a video on Instagram in which he jumps towards the song of Nysnc “Bye Bye bye”.
