The combination of social media and legalized bets has created clearly anti -social results.
The latest large -scale example occurred in the Major League Baseball. Houston Astros launcher, McCullers launches, received death threats after a brutal outing last month against the Reds.

The man, who was not identified, said that he had lost money by betting on the astros and was “frustrated and in intoxication” when he made these threats.
No charge has been deposited. Since the person lies in another country, it would be complicated, to say the least.
Much more complicated than the efforts necessary to make death threats online.
It happens far too often. And it is important that the threats are investigated and, if possible, prosecuted.
“It was a difficult evening,” said McCullers after it happened. “I understand that people are very passionate and people love astros and love sport, but threatening to find my children and murdering them is a bit difficult to manage.”
This will only change unless those who constitute these threats are held responsible. The proliferation and ease of legalized games, where anyone in any jurisdiction that allows them can place bets on their phone, makes threats carried out via digital technology should not be managed differently than threats made in person, by telephone or by post.
This is a problem for all sports, including NFL. Once those who have made these threats realize that there is a price to pay for this, they will catch it.
