Donuts for a total solar eclipse, anyone?
The total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, will not only be a rare phenomenon: it will also be an opportunity to enjoy some treats, as several fan-favorite food brands are launching solar eclipse specials.
Here’s a list of some restaurants and snack brands that are moving into events with limited-edition flavors and more.
Krispy Kreme
The donut giant has teamed up with Oreo to create a “Total Solar Eclipse Donut” – an original glazed donut dipped in dark chocolate frosting and topped with silver sprinkles, buttercream, Oreo pieces and a wholemeal Oreo cookie in the center.
The donut will be available Friday, April 5 through Monday, April 8 while supplies last, according to officials.
Pizza Hut
Pizza Hut’s offering, called “Total Eclipse of the Hut,” features large pizzas for $12, in a shape “reminiscent of the sun and moon,” the pizzeria said. The offer is valid for takeout, dine-in and delivery, according to officials.
Marco’s Pizza
Marco’s Pizza will be offering 50% off all menu-priced pizzas from April 8-14. The discount can be applied when ordering online or through the app and using the code ECLIPSE.
King of smoothies
Through April 8, Smoothie King is offering its Eclipse Berry Blitz Smoothie with a free pair of solar eclipse glasses. The offer is only valid when purchasing the Eclipse Smoothie. It contains bananas, wild blueberries, apples, blueberry juice blend, lemon and white grape juice blend, protein blend and blue spirulina.
Raise the cane
The chain will offer a free piece of its Texas toast with the purchase of any combo on April 8. There will also be an entry for a prize to win free food for 20 years to celebrate the solar eclipse. Customers must register in advance online.
