Deadpool and Wolverine top $1 billion at global box office

UPDATED: Deadpool and Wolverine officially passed the billion-dollar mark at the global box office this weekend, with $1.029 billion and up through Sunday. Marvel/Disney Marvel’s portion of the international box office is $535.2 million and domestic is $494.3 millionwhich represents a total $1,029.5 million.

By reaching and surpassing the coveted milestone, the third installment starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman becomes only the second American R-rated film to achieve it – after 2019’s. Joker. Deadpool and Wolverine is due to exceed Jokerhas grossed $1.079 billion by the end of this week, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time worldwide and adding to its list of records. D&W reaches $1 billion faster than Jokeralthough the latter film was not distributed in China. It is also the second Disney film to gross $1 billion this year after Inside Out 2as well as only the second film of 2024 in the post.

With D&W And IO2Disney remains the only studio to release two $1 billion films in a year. In total, 55 titles in the industry have crossed the billion-dollar threshold, including 31 at Disney (three at Fox). The Marvel Cinematic Universe has 11 (two at Sony). Marvel Studios is responsible for more films worth $1 billion or more than any other studio outside of Walt Disney Studios.

The current weekend saw D&W remains the number 1 non-local film in most markets, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia and Mexico.

The raw of this third image was $57.8 million for a hot deal at -48%.

Here are the Top 10 markets to date: China ($54.8 million), UNITED KINGDOM ($54.4 million), Mexico ($38.2 million), Australia ($31.3 million), Germany ($25.5 million), France ($23.6 million), Brazil ($22.1 million), Spain ($18.9 million), India ($17.9 million) and Italy ($15.6 million).

In Imax, D&WThe worldwide gross of $78 million is the sixth highest grossing in the format for an MCU title.

Overall, Deadpool and Wolverine has been on a roll since beating expectations with a $444 million global debut three weekends ago. Last Wednesday, it crossed the $900 million mark at the global box office. By that point, the Shawn Levy-directed hit had already surpassed the final total of dead Pool And Deadpool 2 at national, international and global level.
