De La Salle’s Alec Blair scores triple-double

No. 1 Hall 72, Campbell Hall 62

Alec Blair had perhaps the best game of his three-year high school career in De La Salle’s Classic first-round victory at Damien.

The 6-foot-7 four-star prospect had a triple-double of 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists as the Spartans improved to 11-0.

Of course, high passing totals are only possible if teammates make shots. Braddock Kjellsvig, a transfer from Christopher, scored 18 points. Meanwhile, Arshawn Salkhi also scored 18 points.

De La Salle took control in the third quarter, increasing the lead from 30-26 to 56-39.

Salesian No. 2 70, Windward-Los Angeles 66

After trailing 23-14 at the end of the first quarter, the Salesians reduced the gap to 30-29 at halftime. With about 10 seconds of play, the Salesian had the ball with the score tied at 64.

Calm and serene leader Aaron Claytor threw a perfect entry pass to Alvin magnet IVwho converted the layup in traffic to give Richmond Private School a 66-64 lead.

While Windward only made two of his four free throws, the Zander Jiménez knocked down all four of his gifts to seal the victory.

Salesian (11-0) could get a rematch against Centennial-Corona on Thursday afternoon. The Pride defeated Centennial 62-51 in another showcase on December 16.
