David Beckham hilariously claimed he was going to “get killed” by Manchester United fans after he praised late Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Inter Miami owner is a United legend following his glamorous, trophy-laden years at Old Trafford, where Sir Alex Ferguson’s side shared an intense rivalry with Liverpool.

United eviscerated Liverpool’s title ambitions during Beckham’s career at the club before Klopp took the Reds back to the top of English and European football for nine years at Anfield.

The German bid his final farewell to Liverpool on Sunday, with the club later confirming that Feyenoord chief Arne Slot would replace him.

Beckham has since delivered his verdict on Klopp and admitted his ‘love’ for the former Liverpool manager who delivered seven major honors in nine years.

Speaking on the Smartless podcast, Beckham praised Klopp’s approach to football and described his effect on football as “incredible”.

“Even as a Man United fan, I love Jurgen. I love his character, his personality and what he brings to the sport,” Beckham said.

“I’m going to get killed by some of my friends at Man United, I’m sad to see him go. What he did for the club and the sport was incredible,” he added.

Beckham was also asked to consider appointing Klopp to Inter Miami, but the former England captain dismissed the idea, joking: “We don’t have much money left.”

Klopp shocked football in January when he announced he did not have the “energy” to continue as Liverpool manager and would leave the club at the end of the season.

Fans begged the 56-year-old to reverse his decision only for him to stick to his initial announcement and finish his final game by beating Wolves on the final day of the season.

Meanwhile, Mail Sport has now revealed that Klopp is set to begin his break from football at a luxury hotel in Mallorca where he will be stationed to keep up to date with developments at his luxury mansion in the Balearic Islands.

His close neighbors will include another former Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers, and his former Borussia Dortmund striker, Robert Lewandowski.
