Philadelphia (AP) – Barstool Founding Sports Dave Portnoy said that he would send two customers to visit an old Nazi concentration camp after committing to anti -Semitic behavior in a bar in Philadelphia, then later retracted this offer for at least one of them because he declared that the person denying the responsibility of what had happened.
Portnoy declared in articles on social networks that in a first conversation on Sunday, the customer took responsibility at 100% of his actions with his friend and agreed to make a learning trip to Auschwitz in Poland. But Monday, Portnoy posted that the customer “had made an 180” and told him that he had nothing to do with anti -Semitic behavior and that he was just a citizen journalist by sharing the video of what happened.
“His trip to Poland was dismissed,” said Portnoy in the post. “Whatever the ramifications that occurred 100%.”
It was not clear if the trip had been revoked for the other customer.
In a video published on social networks on Saturday evening, a woman from the bar who seems to be a server holds a sign with an anti-Jewish message on this subject while a man repeats the message several times.
The bar said in a press release published on social networks that several employees, against written discrimination policies of their training and their organization, complied with the request of a customer for the sign of order with the bottle service.
“We are saddened, embarrassed and frustrated by the deplorable actions of a client and an erroneous staff,” said Barstool Samson Street in the position.
Portnoy said two bar employees had been dismissed on the incident.
Philadelphia police said they were investigating. No accusation was immediately filed.
Temple University said one of the customers would be one of their students. The student was subjected to an interim suspension during an investigation continues, said President John Fry in a statement published on the University’s website.
Fry called “odious” anti -Semitism and said that he would take other measures if other students were involved.
“It has no place in the temple and acts of hatred and discrimination against a person or people are not tolerated in this university,” said Fry.
Kappa Delta Rho said in an article on his website that he also investigated because the involved customer would have been a member of his Temple Fraternity.
“To be clear, our organization firmly opposes all forms of hatred, which does not have their place in our brotherhood,” said Xavier Romano, executive director of the national brotherhood.
Portnoy, who is Jewish, said he hoped to transform the event into a moment of learning. He did not initially identify the culprits, but identified one of them saying that he would not send them to Auschwitz. The customer did not immediately respond to an email asking for comments.
Portnoy said that he had undergone an increase in anti -Semitism, as War between Israel and Hamas Continue.
