Dave Portnoy praised Scottie Scheffler as the golfer helped him land another seven-figure sports bet.
Scheffler’s victory at RBC Heritage means the Barstool Sports chief is halfway there with a possible payout of $1.59 million. The other half of the bet is for the Boston Celtics to win the NBA Finals, with Portnoy betting $100,000 on the two-pick bet.
Scheffler has had an impressive run, placing first at Arnold Palmer, Players, Texas Children’s, The Masters and now RBC Heritage, leading Portnoy to join many in congratulating him on social media.
“Scottie Scheffler may be my favorite athlete of all time. #thankyouscottie,” Portnoy wrote on X.
Scheffler has already won $1.65 million for Portnoy after winning the Masters, as the media personality and avid bettor has now won a total of $6.41 million on sports betting in 2024.

Portnoy won $1.5 million on New Year’s Day after the Michigan Wolverines beat the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Washington Huskies upset the Texas Longhorns.
The following month, he banked another half-million when the Kansas City Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in five years against the San Francisco 49ers.
Earlier in April, the self-proclaimed most popular gambler on the planet had an incredible week of betting. UConn’s victory at the national championship earned it $2.76 million before Scheffler’s triumph at the Masters totaled its winnings to $4.41 million.
On April 19, Portnoy bet $150,000 that the Edmonton Oilers would win the Stanley Cup playoffs – a bet that could net him an additional $1.2 million.
If the Oilers and Celtics succeed in their campaigns, Portnoy could bank an additional $2.792 million on top of his other winnings.
The Celtics, who are at +145 odds to win the NBA title, lead the Miami Heat 1-0 in their first-round series. On the other hand, Edmonton (+700) will begin its playoff journey against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday.
