Daryl Mitchell takes a stunner and dismisses Virat Kohli at 47

Daryl Mitchell takes a superb catch near the boundary line to dismiss Virat Kohli at 47 in a crucial Indian Premier League match on Saturday.

After rain halted the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings after just three overs of play, Kohli resumed the match with good intentions. Just 3 runs short of his half-century, Kohli tried to hit a big shot off Santner’s delivery when Daryl Mitchell managed to catch the ball.

Asked to bat first, RCB were 31 for no loss with Virat Kohli (19 not out) and Faf du Plessis (12 not out) in the middle, when a drizzle interrupted play before turning into a downpour.

Heavy rain is forecast across the city. The matchup is vital for both teams as they compete for the last available playoff spot. A washout or victory for the visitors will see them through.

As for the hosts, they will have to win the match by 18 runs to improve CSK’s net run rate and make the playoffs.

CSK won the toss and opted to play RCB with one change, bringing in Mitchell Santner in place of Moeen Ali. For RCB, Will Jacks was replaced by Glenn Maxwell, while Swapnil Singh was named as part of the impact sub.

Playing XI:

Chennai Super Kings: Rachin Ravindra, Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), Daryl Mitchell, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wk), Mitchell Santner, Shardul Thakur, Tushar Deshpande, Simarjeet Singh, Maheesh Theekshana.
