Former environmentalist MEP Daniel Cohn-Bendit provoked strong reactions by speaking live on January 5 of a “major replacement of the population” on the Mayotte archipelago, concerning Comorian immigration. Comments which provoked reactions on the left, but also on the right of the French political spectrum.
“If we discuss the problems of Mayotte, I completely agree that we must slow down and make impossible this immigration which is, there, really, if you want a great upheaval, a great replacement of the population,” said estimated on January 5, on a private channel, the former environmentalist MEP and figure of May 68 Daniel Cohn-Bendit.
“Let’s see the proposals from Valls, Retailleau, Lecornu and Bayrou […] will this be effective? If it is effective, it is a bulwark, if it is not effective it is not a bulwark but Marine Le Pen does not propose anything else,” also affirmed this Franco-German, all in front of the former Nicolas Sarkozy’s Minister of Education, Luc Ferry, who agreed with these remarks.
The latter did not fail to provoke reactions on the left, but also on the right, the “Great Replacement” referring to a theory popularized by the writer Renaud Camus and regularly decried by the French left.
“Shame on you Dany”, chokes up Sandrine Rousseau
The environmentalist deputy from Paris, accustomed to controversies, Sandrine Rousseau is one of the rare leading personalities to have reacted to the words of Daniel Cohn-Bendit, repeating his remarks and commenting with a pithy formula: “Shame on you Dany”.
“Papy rouge took a big hit in the head from Renaud Camus” jokes Gilbert Gollard
The deputy of the National Rally (RN) of Gard Nicolas Meizonnet took advantage of the controversy to excoriate the new Minister of Education, Élisabeth Borne, who is hostile to the abolition of land rights in Mayotte. “Even Daniel Cohn-Bendit is no longer hostile to the abolition of land rights in Mayotte, which means…” he said on X.
How is it that Bayrou returned this completely incompetent person to the government? Even Daniel Cohn-Bendit is no longer hostile to the abolition of land rights in Mayotte, which means… https://t.co/3fhsYTOQfG

The vice-president of Eric Ciotti’s party, the Union of Republican Rights (UDR) Guilhem Carayon asks for his part: “Why have we been attacked so much for years when we were saying what everyone now recognizes, including Daniel Cohn-Bendit?” “Grandpa Rouge took a big blow to the head from Renaud Camus,” quipped former MP and MEP Gilbert Collard.
Sandrine Rousseau has never spoken out about her pedophile behavior. But when Daniel Cohn-Bendit touches on immigration, there is an outcry. We can clearly see the priorities of denunciation on the left. https://t.co/iVoTAbyWRK
