The cowboys have agreed from a surprise trade for the quarter of the Patriots Joe Milton, according to several reports.
Milton, 25, was an out -of -competition player at the college for Tennessee and impressed in limited action for the patriots during his recruit season.
Now, according to Ian Rapoport from NFL Network, he heads for Dallas with a choice of seventh round in exchange for a fifth round.
This decision for Milton comes after a shocking statement that the Browns and Cowboys negotiated a business for the longtime quarter of Dakas, Dak Prescott. In addition, the longtime backup of Dallas, Cooper Rush, signed with the Ravens last month.
The sports managers based in Cleveland, Bruce Drennan, said that he had received a tip from a good sacred source in the Browns ” organization that the two teams would have been in talks on the quarter.
“ I heard that the part of the reason why Myles Garrett was so willing to sign this contract extension, the Browns negotiate while we are talking with the Dallas cowboys for a business for Dak Prescott ”, said Drennan on his Bigplay show.
Dak Prescott only played eight cowboys games in 2024 due to an injury
“Now Prescott is recovering from an injury to the hamstrings while we are talking about and it may not be ready for the start of the training camp, but it comes from two different sources.”
Drennan added that Cleveland would send the Greg Newsome II corner half and the remuneration to Dallas in exchange for Prescott.
Milton was the safeguard of New England behind Drake Maye last season, but impressed when he had a chance in the week 18, launching 241 yards and a hit in a victory.
Of course, the quarter-back does not have the same pedigree as the trio-body pro Prescott, but it is also much cheaper, because it signed a recruit contract worth $ 4.2 million over four years after being drafted in the sixth round.
Prescott, meanwhile, signed an extension of $ 240 million over four years with Dallas in September, with almost everything ($ 231 million) guaranteed, by Spotrac.
However, the team could seek to pass from Prescott, which is second of all time in the passes of franchise touch, but has only one file of 2-5 in the playoffs.
After having had a big 2023 season, Prescott endured a difficult 2024 when he launched eight interceptions at only 11 affected and shortened his season with a tear in the hamstrings.
Prescott was mainly durable for cowboys, although a thumbs up in 2022 cost him five games and a horrible ankle injury limited him to only five games in 2020.
