Daley Plaza Famers Market is now open – NBC Chicago

The Chicago Farmers’ Market season officially begins Thursday with the Daley Plaza Farmers’ Market opening to the public.

According to the City of Chicago, this is the oldest farmers’ market in the city.

The market takes place every Thursday from May 23 to October 24, according to officials. Hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with vendors selling products ranging from pastries to coffee, honey, olive oil and more.

For many sellers, the market marks the start of the growing season.

“We pick cherry tomatoes in our greenhouse,” Steve Freeman of Nichols Farm and Orchard said Thursday morning, adding that their stand also offers cucumbers, pickles, green onions, celery, radishes, asparagus and more Again.

“Heirloom tomatoes are some of the most popular products we grow,” Nichols continued. “Strawberries are something people love, and the season just started this week.”
