Ty Cobb, a White House lawyer at Donald Trump during the president’s first term, said why he vehemently opposed Trump’s controversial candidate, Kash Patel, leading the FBI.
COBB and 22 other Republican officials have signed an open letter calling for senators this week not to confirm this role. They argued that he had a “bad judgment” and seek to take revenge on Trump’s criticism.
“Patel confirmation would be a serious error that would endanger the integrity of the FBI and compromise its critical mission,” they wrote.
Patel hearings take place on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the broadcast of “Outfront” of CNN, COBB, told the host Erin Burnett that it would be “a considerably demoralizing event” if the hawker of the conspiracy theory and the 2020 electoral ship of the patel were confirmed.
“Perhaps the most demoralizing event in the history of the FBI”, predicted COBB, warning that there would be “a shocking deflation of morale” at the agency and that patel “is not qualified remotely by the character or experience to do so. “
Patel is “someone who is a real danger to democracy and certainly a dagger in the heart of the FBI,” he added.
“Strong words,” recognized Burnett.
