Czech Republic vs Türkiye Predictions

Group F is the last to conclude the European Championship and we could expect a dramatic evening on Wednesday.

Portugal have already secured top spot, while Georgia must beat Roberto Martinez’s men to have any chance of qualifying – a tall order, you might think.

In all likelihood, then, Czech Republic vs Turkey will be a straightforward head-to-head to determine which of these teams advances to the round of 16 as Group F runners-up.

As things stand, Turkey has the advantage. Their victory against Georgia on the opening day gave them three points, while the Czech Republic only managed a 1-1 draw against tournament debutants.

As such, a draw here would seal Turkey’s second-place finish. The Czech Republic must emerge victorious to qualify, either as runners-up (if Georgia drop points) or third (if Georgia win and beat the Czechs that night).

The stakes couldn’t be higher and so we have an intriguing encounter in store at the Volksparkstadion.

So far we have seen two different sides of Turkey. They played some exciting football in an end-to-end encounter against Georgia on the opening day, sealing a 3-1 victory with virtually the last kick of the match.

But they were largely beaten by Portugal on the second day. A comical own goal from Samet Akaydin pretty much sums things up as Turkey are outclassed by Cristiano Ronaldo and co.

The Czechs almost took a point from Portugal in their first outing in Germany, before conceding a last-minute winner to Sergio Conceicao.

The 1-1 draw against Georgia was perhaps even more disappointing. It’s a game that Ivan Hasek has long viewed as his team’s best chance for a victory in Group F.

However, the Czech Republic has not yet emerged from this situation. They and Turkey have their destiny in their hands as they prepare to face off in Hamburg.

Czech Republic vs Türkiye prediction

The Czech Republic and Turkey will face off for a place in the round of 16 of the European Championship.

Draw – 12/5 (Betfred)

Turkey coach Vincenzo Montella has made some changes to his XI for the match against Portugal, but there is only one known absentee for Wednesday, with Abdulkerim Bardakci set to serve a suspension.

The majority of fans inside the stadium will be Turkish, as was the case in their previous two outings. But that can sometimes be both a hindrance and a help.

Montella must ensure his team are patient and stick to the game plan, which is not always easy when you are cheered on by tens of thousands of passionate fans.

Both of the Czech Republic’s matches so far have been close and this one should follow suit.

The likely absence of their main striker Patrik Schick is a blow that could force the Czechs to be more defensive than they would have liked.

A draw would be a great result for Turkey and we think about their chances of getting one.

Over 5.5 cards – 6/5 (bet365)

With so much on the line, Wednesday’s fight will be competitive and hard-fought from start to finish. The referee, Romanian Istvan Kovacs, should expect to be very busy.

Turkey ranks second at the Euros for tackles per game, while the Czech Republic is third. Only Austria (3.5) received more yellow cards per match than the Czechs (3), with Turkey close behind with 2.5. Meanwhile, both teams are fourth in fouls per game with 13 each.

The Czechs are particularly physical. Their offensive strategy is based on crosses thrown into the zone. Every time they get a high throw, Vladimir Coufal throws it into the penalty area.

Turkey are a more technical team, but they are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Once again, the noise generated by their supporters could play a role in the tackles of the Turkish players.

Overall, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if six or more players were listed in the referee’s notebook.

Arda Guler scores or assists – 8/5 (VBET)

Arda Guler was the star of the 3-1 victory against Georgia. He was a thorn in the opposition’s side for much of the match and scored with a superb goal to put his side 2-1 ahead.

Guler only played 20 minutes against Portugal due to a minor groin problem, but is on course to return to the starting XI for this decider.

The Real Madrid teenager is one of the most gifted young players in the tournament and Turkey will be counting on him for more magical moments in the final third.

Guler was a small player with the Whites in 2023/24, but he still averaged a goal every 62 minutes in La Liga.

Turkey will hope the 19-year-old makes a good impression here too.
