The Corvette CX making its beginnings at The Quail this weekend, a rally of car sports, generates more than 2,000 HP combined from its four electric vector-controlled vector and vectorization engines. It is an amazing power, draped with beautiful bodywork, at a given time when Corvette climbs quickly in the supercar ranks. There is only one problem with this last interpretation of the American car sports icon: China has an additional 1,000 HP.
The specifications of the Yangwang U9 track that disclosed last week in the BYD deposits with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technologies (MIIT) are read as something in a pantyhose newspaper. 3,000 hp. 0-60 in a second. An electric motor for each wheel. A top speed approaching 300 mph. If it is real (and there is absolutely no reason to believe that this is not the case), the byd will be the reference index of the performance car against which all the others are measured, like the Ferrari F40 of the 1980s, McLaren F1 of the 1990s or Bugattis of the 21st century.
And these 3,000 CH byd? It’s a production car, so limited. Meanwhile, the latest non-production intention of non-production, Pie-In-The-Sky, without restraint, you can simply say shit and nobody calls into question the concept of electric hypercar from GM Falls more than 1000 HP short, “just” 2000 HP.
But do not count the corvette.
More fat, bigger hammer

Whatever you can think of the era supercars displays like the Lamborghini Diablo, Porsche Carerra GT, or Pagani Huayra – or even modern electric hypercars like the Tesla Model S plaid and Xiaomi su7 – the only thing they all have in common is that they are all objectively slower than the Sledgette de Callaway SLEDGETTE 255 MPH.
I will not enter into the specifications of this car (this is not this kind of car blog), but the fact is that, although the corvette is often overlooked, there is a reason why GM sports car de GM de GM transports that the nickname “King of the Hill” – and the new Corvette CX concept is similarly, no doubt, more than a simple list of specifications in a magazine.
And these specifications are really impressive. The new Corvette CX concept contains four independent electric motors which put a combined torque of 2,000 hp and a quantity of torque of the earth under the ground under advanced software commands which allow a vectorization of four -wheel torque for the maximum handle and turn performance, as well as precise steering control under the heaviest braking.
The power to these motors comes from the lithium-ion CX ’90 kWh battery at a low-level central level in the chassis, giving the car a center of low gravity and, above all, an ideal 50/50 distribution of front weight.
More: it’s beautiful
Corvette’s team says that the CX concept is based on more than seventy (!) Years of Corvette Heritage while being a forward concept, not a retro room. Stylistically, the concept seems more visually mature and moderate than its c8 cousin in production, and seems to promise a return to C3-5 eras, aesthetic more loaded with C3-5 eras.
Phil Zak, executive director of the design of Chevrolet, is rightly proud of the design of the CX. “Although the shape of a corvette has always been expressive and turned forward, each fold and line have its roots in the generations that preceded it. It’s ambitious, it’s cultural, that’s the reason why people want to come to work in Chevrolet, “says Zak. “The CX … demonstrates our design teams which move away from the constraints of production vehicles and release their creativity.
The rest of the official copy of the GM press release highlights the canopy inspired by aviation, the interior of the jet age and a sub-body fan system which are not entirely different from the system disclosed in the Tesla patent deposits earlier this week. You can see this here:
Aggressively futuristic, but undoubtedly a corvette, the CX concept shows what a future sports car without compromise can be. The athletic exterior design, highlighted by the canopy of cockpit inspired by Fighter -Jet, does not seem only powerful – it was shaped in collaboration with the Aero GM Motorsports group. Each angle was designed with ultimate performance in mind.
Inside, all aspects of the CX concept have been designed to provide an unrivaled driving experience. The fighter -style canopy at the front opening automatically increases when approaching. The driver and the passenger settle in seats completed in Inferno red ballistic textiles, reinforced to help the occupants in place during high turn maneuvers. Premium silicone leather, strawberry aluminum and low -shiny forged carbon fiber accents give a high sensation to the driver focused on the driver.
The digital windshield transforms the windshield into an immersive surround display with real-time performance data. Each major control is elegantly integrated behind the wheel, keeping the driver of the accent on the road to come.
Innovations continue under the skin with the vacuum fan system. The integrated fans draw air through the open channel body, generating a massive support force and adjusting the air flow to the rear diffuser to refine the aerodynamic balance in real time. The front diffuser and the rear wing are both active, automatically adjusting in response to the driver’s inputs to generate maximum grip. The integrated sub-structure of the CX concept is visible through aerodynamic channels in bodywork, and the weapons of suspension are in the shape of a wing to improve air flow and reduce the front lifting.
Chevrolet
Overall, the new Corvette CX concept is an impressive work of engineering and rolling art. It is also a GM declaration that, although the corvette can very well become electric in its next iteration, it will not become slower. In fact, the first electric corvette could even be the best of all time – but do not say that too noisy (you will upset the crowd of New Balance).
That said, as a pure concept that almost no one will never lead and who could never be attached publicly to a dyno, it is absolutely confusing that Chevy would not have just claimed 3,000 hp. Even if it was right to correspond to the claims of byd and continue to rely on a century of media threshing for American exceptionalism, do you know?
This is my point of view, anyway – what is yours? Watch Corvette CX’s bracing video from Chevrolet, below, then tell us what you think of the last GM concept in the comments.
