The CVS pharmacies chain closes more than 250 stores in the coming months as part of wider restructuring efforts.

In its February financial deposits, CVS said the closures occurred after a “strategic examination” of its retail activities designed to “rationalize and simplify the organization, improve efficiency and reduce costs”.

A spokesperson told Newsweek The closures were based on multiple factors, including population changes, consumer purchasing habits, stores and pharmacy density, access to other pharmacies and community health needs.
CVS closures are only the latest pharmacie chains. Walgreens announced earlier this month He planned to close up to 500 “underperforming” locations this year. In 2024, CVS has closed dozens of its locations in the target stores. From 2022 to 2024, around 900 CVS stores stop.
