Cupertino residents can help connect their community – The Mercury News

Block leaders sought

Cupertino invites residents who are passionate about public safety and their neighborhoods to volunteer as block leaders, with the goal of connecting neighbors and creating a sense of community. Neighborhood leaders also let their neighbors know what’s happening in the city, all with the goal of helping create a more resilient community.

Block leaders attend program meetings to get to know their fellow volunteers and help organize community events, which can be as simple as a meeting at a nearby park or cafe.

The city is hosting a block leader orientation session on May 18 to discuss best practices, program expectations and available resources, as well as potential gathering topics and solutions to common questions and concerns.

Orientation is set for 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Cupertino City Hall, 10300 Torre Ave. Register at https://events.californiavolunteers.ca.gov/opportunities/rG95v9wKPC.
