Cubs would still speak to the lifter David Robertson

Although I do not call it quite an expectation that the cubs will add another type of type at the end of the round even after having exchanged against Ryan in a hurry, it is quite clear of the declaration – and the budget – that they are open.

In this spirit, and noting that we have seen many names mentioned as part of the Cubs (several of which left the board of directors yesterday), I want to highlight the continuous comments of Bruce Levine on the old friend David Robertson.

In Marquee, Levine said Robertson was the only one to watch:

In addition, in its last at 670, the score, bringing together a range of rumors, Levine mentioned only one lift by its name:

“Beyond Bregman, the Cubs were also in contact with the 39-year-old lifter, David Robertson, who came out of a strong year in 2024 in which he posted a 3.00 and 1.11 whip MPM 68 appearances for the Rangers. Robertson withdrew 12.4 throats by nine sleeves. Robertson is a kind of unicorn in that he represented himself in contractual negotiations for most of his career. »»

It is clear that Levine has heard of Cubs talking to Robertson, and heard him so as to make her believe that a signature is a very real possibility, even after pressed.

Given the compositions of this market, Robertson thinks of the environment of around 8 to 12 million dollars, which, I suppose, is on the top of what Cubs are ready to do with the 10 to 15 million Dollars they left in the off -season budget (this is my assumption, not something they explicitly stated (and I suppose that I cannot completely exclude property by doing a special allowance to go to -the luxury tax even before the start of the season (although I doubt it))).

That is to say that if the cubs always speak in Robertson, I suppose that there is a dance in progress with him and a few teams, everything to see who could bring him closer to what Kirby Yates has (a year, 13 $ million), while the teams try to bring him closer to what Tommy Kahnle obtained (one year, $ 7.75 million).

Robertson, who was 40 years old in April, did not show any signs of decline in 2024, by results or peripherals. Indeed, in many ways, it was its best season in five years (3.00 ERA, 2.65 FIP, 33.4% K, 9.1% BB, 72.0 IP, 5.5% of barrel, 48.8% ground ball). If this guy had a few years less, he would probably seek a very large multi -year agreement.
