7:47 p.m.: CUBS officially announced to the media (including Taylor McGregor de Marquee) that they had acquired Pomeranz for cash considerations. The team has announced that Pomeranz would appear in Triple-A Iowa, so it seems that it was a standard minor league trade rather than the use of the ascending mobility provision.
6:10 p.m.: Sailors exchange the lifter Drew Pomeranz In Cubs, Ken Rosenthal reports of athletics. The veteran Southpaw had launched Triple-A with Seattle. According to Rosenthal, the Pomeranz agreement contained a ascending mobility clause which forced the navies to call it or to exchange it if another team was willing to offer it a place in the big league.
This suggests that Cubs call Pomeranz for what would be his first appearance in the major league in four years (assuming that he made a match). He was very briefly in the big leagues last season because he spent four days on the list of giants last May. The San Francisco skipper, Bob Melvin, did not bring him into a match before he was appointed for assignment and exceeded the list. Pomeranz elected a free agency by cleaning the exemptions and sat the rest of the season.
The 36 -year -old man signed a minor league agreement with Seattle in December. He obtained his release at the end of spring training, but quickly returned to a new non-learning pact. He granted six points, including five won, in 9 2/3 rounds with their subsidiary of Tacoma. Pomeranz made eight free passes (six balls on balls and two strikers) but he struck 14 of the 43 opponents. He obtained winged strikes at a decent clip of 11.8% while working with a quick bullet of 92 MPH and an articulation curve from the 80s.
Chicago was sufficiently intrigued by stuff to give a look at Pomeranz despite the wobbly command. He has a certain familiarity with the skipper Craig Counsell. Pomeranz experienced half a season in small groups in Milwaukee while Counsell managed the Brewers in 2019. He recorded 45 stick withdrawals in 26 1/3 of sleeves after a deadline with San Francisco. This led the paadres to sign it to a surprising 34 million dollars of $ 34 million free agent for the following off -season. The investment did not work because the injuries and the shortcut calendar of 2020 limited it to 47 appearances during the lifespan of this contract.
According to the Transactions Journal MLB.com, the Cubs optional Jordan Wicks to triple-a iowa. It will be apparently the movement of the corresponding active list. They will also have to add Pomeranz to the list of 40 men, although they can move Justin Steele to the list of 60 days injured to open this place.
