CU Buffs add former Texas State DL Tavian Coleman – The Denver Post

More experience joins the herd on the defensive line.

On Tuesday, former Texas State defensive lineman Tavian Coleman announced his plans to transfer to Colorado and play his final season of college football for head coach Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes.

In two seasons at Texas State, the 6-foot-1, 300-pound Coleman started all 26 games for the Bobcats. He helped them go 8-5 this season, including a win over North Texas in the First Responder Bowl on Friday.

This season, Coleman has 26 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. He has 27 tackles, 7.5 TFLs and 3.5 sacks in 2023.

Before Texas State, Coleman played one season at Utah State, starting four of the 13 games he played in 2022. He had 26 tackles, 4.5 TFLs and a sack for the Aggies.

Coleman began his career with two seasons at Trinity Valley Community College, from 2020 to 2021. He had 92 tackles, 18 TFLs and 8.0 sacks in those two seasons.

Coleman is one of several players around the country to take advantage of the NCAA granting an extra year of eligibility to players who would have exhausted their eligibility this year but have spent at least one year in college.
