Crystal Palace have planned a replacement for Michael Olise who could be even better, a former Eagles star reveals.

Crystal Palace are already considering replacing Michael Olise with a player who can be “even better”, talkSPORT has been told.

The Eagles have agreed to sell one of their star players to Bayern Munich this summer, after triggering the 21-year-old striker’s £60 million release clause.

It’s a big blow for the London club, who finished the Premier League season strongly with Olise playing an important role in their strong run.

Although the France Under-21 international missed much of the season due to injury, he still managed to register ten goals and six assists in 19 appearances, as Palace won six of their last seven league matches.

But it looks like it’s not all bad news for fans, as they have another talented star poised to replace Olise.

That’s according to former Palace star Darren Ambrose, who revealed insider information on talkSPORT on Sunday.

“I contacted one of my sources at Crystal Palace,” the talkSPORT host said.

“They said the club had a replacement in mind who could potentially be better than Olise in the long term.”

Regarding the Olise deal, Ambrose said he and his fellow Eagles fans were heartbroken to lose one of the jewels in their crown, but admits it is a deal that suits the club and the player.

“This decision suits everyone involved,” he said.

“He had a release clause of £60 million – I was led to believe that only Champions League teams could trigger that, which is the case with Bayern Munich.

“I think Reading get £7 or £8 million from it, which is great for them, they need it.

“And he’s not staying in the Premier League and I think the Crystal Palace fans, although they will be disappointed with him leaving, it’s a bonus that he’s not in the Premier League and he won’t be facing them not next season.

“I would have loved to see him stay for another year and learn his trade a little more, but when these giant clubs come calling… and he’s good enough, he’s good enough to play in a League level team. champions.”

Ambrose adds that Palace cannot afford to let any more of their key players leave this summer, especially after their strong finish to the campaign under Oliver Glasner gave the Eagles a chance of breaking into the European places next season.

“For Crystal Palace, selling Olise is enough,” he added.

“They must try to keep Eberechi Eze now, he is going to have suitors and interest, of course, because he is an exceptional player.

“And if they already have a replacement for Olise, then you have to trust Dougie Freedman and the powers that be. He has an eye for a player – Adam Wharton for £18m, Eze for £20m, Olise for just £8m.

“To walk away with essentially £50 million after Reading got their money is a good deal. It’s disappointing but it’s a good deal and Olise will do well there.
