Crossworlds are “fundamentally different”, says Nintendo Switch 2

Although Nintendo Switch 2 has just received a large runner in the form of Mario Kart World, Sega thinks that she can be able to coexist with her own game to come Sonic Racing: Crossworlds.

In a recent interview, the leader of the team of Sonic Takashi Iizuka said that these two titles “went in different directions”. He explained how Mario Kart World presents an open world. Iizuka finally thinks that “the conception itself is fundamentally different”.

He said VGC In the interview:

“Yes, with Mario Kart World, they did the whole race of the open world, it’s their new way to play a Mario Kart game, and we really think it’s a great and interesting direction for them.

We even started at a different point. Our development team, people who have developed Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, is our Sega Arcade race team.

They have tons of experience in creating racing games, and all the attention to what we wanted to do from the start was to take this race game and improve it and modernize it and put all these new fun and crazy ideas in what a racing game could be, and develop this as a product.

Thus, even of the conceptual level, I think that the two titles go in different directions and offer different experiences to people, so the conception itself is fundamentally different. »»

Iizuka then talked about Nintendo Switch 2. As expected, with the new console, “you don’t have to make so many concessions”.

His complete words are as follows:

“The original switch is an excellent machine. Many people play portablely and (had) experiences that were really solid. When we talk about Switch 2, because the performance of the equipment has been improved, a lot of decisions we had to make when obtaining a high performance game on a 1 switch, you don’t have to make so many concessions (on Switch 2).

You will get an improvement in the image frequency and an improved resolution, so many of these experiences are better simply because the performance of the equipment is so improved. So we can’t wait to get more games out on Switch 2.

For Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, on September 25, we publish the game, but unfortunately, it will only be on Switch 1 on the 25th. But the team works hard to ensure that we get the game on Switch 2 as soon as possible, so we really hope a little after September 25, you will see this version 2 arriving on the market, and we hope that everyone can buy it, play it. “”

Iizuka also said that SEGA “is currently thinking about this change to change 2 types of progression”. This, hopefully, means that the progression between the two platforms will be covered.

There were a lot of Sonic races: Crossworlds with the game revealing different collaborations, including Minecraft DLC. There are also news on the collector’s edition and more here.
