Cristiano Ronaldo announced a shock career move that will see him start a “new chapter” away from the field.
Currently, his business for the Saudi Pro League Al-Nassr side, Ronaldo, 40, opens a new commercial enterprise when he enters the twilight of his play days.
This will see him associating with the filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, 54, the producer of Lock, Stock and two smokers and the gangster film director such as Snatch and Layer Cake.
The collaboration of Ronaldo and Vaughn will see them launching a brand called Ur Marv, an independent film studio which will focus on “the adoption of innovative technology with a nod to tradition”.
A statement published on Ronaldo’s official account on X, formerly Twitter, said: “Cristiano Ronaldo loves films; Matthew Vaughn likes sport – and they both love a good story.
“The two were champions disruptive of their game and will now combine the world of sport and narration thanks to the launch of Ur Marv, an independent joint-venture film studio embracing innovative technology, with a nod to tradition.”

Ronaldo added: “It’s an exciting chapter for me, while I look at new business in business.”
Vaughan also said: “Cristiano created stories on the ground that I could never have written, and I can’t wait to create inspiring films with him – it’s a real superhero.”
He is far from the first company that Ronaldo explored outside of football, because he also owns his own chain of hotels alongside a line of perfumes and a clothing brand.
Ronaldo embarked on business with the Pestana group based in Madeira in 2015, which belongs to the Millionaire Dionisio Pestana and founded by his father Manuel.
The tourist and leisure group has also owned a series of hotels across Portugal, but united its forces to Ronaldo in a 50/50 partnership to open a channel under its CR7 brand.
Five have been created to date with Lisbon and Funchal the two Portuguese locations of CR7 hotels, while the chain also includes a hotel in Times Square in New York, as well as Madrid and Marrakech.
“The first Pestana CR7 was to be in Funchal – my city which is also considered the best island by the World Travel Awards,” said Ronaldo during the disclosure of his first 2016 hotel.
“It’s a great pride for me – the opening of this first hotel. It marks my entry into a brand new area. This new project will be a huge success in the four corners of the world.

Unsurprisingly, charming hotels have promised luxury, the Funchal hotel saying that its customers will appreciate the lifestyle they deserve.
The hotel offers an infinity pool of pink color, a gym, a sauna and an outdoor whirlpool, while customers receive a free entrance to the Cristiano Ronaldo museum.
Ronaldo should also have designed training sessions at the hotel’s outdoor gymnasium.
Unsurprisingly, sport is presented as a major theme of each of the CR7 hotels, while the rooms in the site of New York are influenced by the colors and the art of Portugal.
