The Center for COVID Control has been ordered to cease all testing operations in the state for not being properly certified by the federal government, the Colorado attorney general’s office announced Saturday.
The AG’s office and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment determined that the Center for COVID Control also failed to report test results and cases to CDPHE as required by law. of the state, according to a press release. The test sites operated by Macagain Corp. were also ordered to halt operations.
“A well-documented CDPHE investigation has concluded that the Center for COVID Control has not obtained all necessary licenses to perform COVID-19 testing in Colorado,” Attorney General Phil Weiser said in the statement. “Our consumer protection section has also received a significant number of complaints about safety conditions at their test sites, including concerns about the proper use of personal protective equipment. By violating these licensing requirements and ignoring health and safety protocols, the Center for COVID Control is putting Coloradans at risk and we are taking action to protect public health.

- 3629 Betty Drive, Colorado Springs
- 2910 Wood Avenue, Colorado Springs
CDPHE investigators found evidence that the company’s testing sites in the state are not legally certified under the federal Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments program, the statement said. CLIA certification is required by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for all non-research, non-medico-legal laboratory tests performed on persons in the United States.
The Center for COVID Control has been ordered to cease operating each of its test sites until it can demonstrate that the sites have all necessary certifications and meet all legal requirements to operate in the State.
