A 45-year-old man and his wife were axed to death by unidentified men in Keonjhar district of Odisha, with police claiming the double murder was committed because they were suspected of practicing witchcraft, a source said. responsible. “It appears that suspicion of practicing witchcraft is behind the killings. One person has been arrested. Further investigation is ongoing,” Keonjhar Police Superintendent Mitrabhanu Mahapatra told PTI.
The couple’s daughter, Singo, said her father Bahada Murmu and his wife Dhani (35) were sleeping outside their bedroom on Saturday night.
“I was sleeping in a room. After hearing a scream, I came out and saw that my parents were lying in a pool of blood,” Singo said.
She called her uncle Kisan Marandi and informed him of what had happened.
“I received a call around 12:30 p.m. from Singo. Together with my eldest son, I reached the village on a motorbike,” Mr Marandi said.
Informed, a police team went to the scene and sent the bodies for an autopsy.
