Could rich auburn be the hair color of the winter season? : From Zendaya to Ayo Edebiri

Hollywood stars gave a beauty masterclass on the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday in honor of movie royalty. Every red carpet has a special twist, and for beauty lovers, this year’s iteration was all about hair.

From Emma Stone’s nutmeg pixie cut to Ariana Grande’s Audrey Hepburn-inspired bangs, the hairstyle and coloring choices certainly made a new year statement. However, one trend we noticed was rich, warm hairstyles as the A-list moved towards muted auburn and copper hair tones.

Next to her 5-carat marquise-cut diamond engagement ring, Zendaya sported a short, deep copper bob while Ayo Edebiri debuted loose auburn waves and Michelle Yeoh sported a sleek fawn updo with thick, blunt bangs. You know what they say, three times a trend.

As time becomes even colder, hairstylists are predicting a shift to this reddish-brown shade and it’s all science. Maia Louro, hairstylist at Blue Tit Hair Salon East Village, tells us H! Fashion: “I think auburn is so popular at this time of year because people are inspired by the fall/winter vibe and generally tend to look for something warm and lower maintenance than a shiny beach blonde.”

She continues: “It is also the perfect color for most people as it is by far the most versatile as it suits most skin tones, accentuates eye color and is easily achievable as it falls between light shades and dark. Adding: “Personally, as a hairstylist I am excited about this time of year because auburn shades are my favorite shades. I can guarantee that about 40 percent of my clients will want to go to the dark side.”

We’re taking inspiration from the A-list and predicting that auburn will be the signature hair color of the winter season.

Where does the charm of auburn hair in winter come from?

Siobhan Haug, co-founder of Haug London Haus and former British Color Technician of the Year, tells H! Fashion: “Sometimes copper sounds too close to orange and so can be a scary leap to make for natural brunettes or difficult-to-style blondes who have long struggled with fading with orange. Auburn, however, is a variation mature and nuanced Copper and different auburn shades can incorporate other tones that soften its strength. She adds: “For example, with Zendaya’s hair, her brown undertone creates depth and richness while auburn. shimmers like a lightly reflective top coat.”

Ayo Edebiri’s wavy, deep auburn locks took center stage at the 82nd Annual Golden Globes.

In an Instagram post, Zendaya’s celebrity hairstylist, Coree Moreno, revealed that her sleek microcut was an homage to old Hollywood glamor but with a modern twist. To achieve the brown shade he wanted, he achieved this by using Bellami’s Hair Seamless Clips in the colors “Chestnut” and “Chocolate” for the perfect warm winter tone.

“While Ayo Edebri’s stunning brunette locks have subtly painted auburn highlights dancing in her waves, retaining the nature of her black hair but adding soft highlights of warmth for shine and shine,” explains Siobhan.

How can I replicate Zendaya’s Auburn Golden Globe hair?

The expert says: “Keeping hair darker in winter allows it to rest and recover. Applying a darker, warmer shade is like replenishing hair color, just like how a polyfiller works, it evens out the hair structure. Color experts call this process “pre-coloring,” and it involves adding pigment to the hair to help the color last longer and improve its shine. »

In Siobhan’s expert opinion, you can easily request this rich shade at your local hair salon this winter. She tells H! Fashion: “For a quick pop of auburn, using a true semi-permanent conditioning color will give you an auburn glow. The soft nature of this product means the auburn shade will simply cling to the lightest or darkest areas fades from your hair and will disappear in 8 to 10 shampoos. We love Chroma ID from Schwarzkopf Professional in 7 to 77.”

If you’re looking for a subtle hair color change this winter, this is your sign to consider warm, celebrity-approved auburn hues.
