Could New York’s New Nightlife Mayor Be ‘Club Kid’ Richie Rich

There might not be a better candidate for the job of New York’s nightlife mayor.
Page Six can exclusively reveal that 90s Club Kid Richie Rich is interested in the gig.
A spy tells us they were at a birthday party for Lamia Funti at the Lamia Fish Market when Rich ran into former ‘Nightlife Mayor’s Office’ chief Ariel Palitz.
“Richie heard her say she was quitting the job and he asked if he could apply,” a source tells Us.
“I feel like I’ve been preparing for this opportunity my whole life,” Rich later told Page Six. “I’ve seen the evolution of nightlife over the years, and I would love the chance to serve my city in a big way and blow it up!”
He certainly knows a thing or two about going out.
Rich was one of the first “Club Kids,” along with Michael Alig and James St. James, who garnered national attention and created a cultural moment for dressing up in wild outfits while running into nightclubs the hottest spots in town, such as Danceteria and Limelight.
According to the jobs listing, the new nightlife mayor will help spots with things like permits and licenses, “address long-standing issues with nightlife operations” and “advise the development of nightlife policies.” the city to support a lively nightlife”.
The Office of Nightlife was created in 2018 by Mayor Bill de Blasio.
In the 2000s, Rich was known for the cool downtown fashion brand Heatherette, which was worn by Gwen Stefani, Paris Hilton and Naomi Campbell, among others.
In February, he showed clothes for a new line, called Richerette.
