East Hartford, Conn. – From Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur made the decision to dismiss their manager, Ange Postcoglou, earlier this week, UNITED STATES The coach of the male national team Mauricio Pochettino was linked to a return north of London, where he succeeded from 2014 to 2019.
But the Argentinian manager clearly indicated on Saturday that he was engaged in the United States, while recognizing rumors surrounding his future.
“After my departure in 2019, whenever I was free and the place of the manager or head coach position in Tottenham Hotspur, my name appears on the list,” Pochettino said after 2-1’s defeat of the United States against Turkey in the Field of Rentschler. “If you have seen the rumors, I think there are 100 coaches in the list. I think, don’t worry.
“If something has happened, you will surely see, but we cannot talk about this type of thing, because I think that today, it’s not real. It’s not realistic. And look where I am, where we are. And the thing is, the answer is so clear, right? But we are talking about it because it’s my club, like Newells or Espanyol.”
Pochettino signed a two-year contract with the United States national male team in September. He should lead the USMNT during the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will be co-organized by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The USMNT has lost its last three games under Pochettino. He is the first manager to abandon three consecutive games since Jürgen Klinsmann in 2015.
