Corbin Burnes will undergo Tommy John surgery

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo informed the media members that right -handed Corbin Burnes will undergo Tommy John surgery. Burnes will therefore miss the rest of this season and perhaps also the entire 2026 campaign. The radio broadcaster Chris Garagiola was among those who transmitted the information.

The news is devastating but not surprising. Burnes launched Sunday when he called the Pirogue training staff. He left this match and the club later announced that he felt discomfort of the elbow. He opted for various medical opinions in the following days, but it seems that the worst case could not be avoided, so he will pass under the knife. Since Tommy John surgery generally requires 14 to 18 months of recovery time, Burnes is definitely absent for the rest of 2025. A return at the end of 2026 is possible but cannot be guaranteed.

More to come.
