Controversial Australian basketball player Liz Cambage is sent off for two shocking acts of violence during the match – then screams and taunts officials

  • Australians criticized his latest brain outburst

Polarizing Australian basketball player Liz Cambage has once again sparked controversy when she was kicked out of a game in China for violently elbowing an opponent in the head and punching another in the face.

Former WNBA player and Australian Opal has found her career in ruins after allegedly making racist remarks towards the Nigerian national team during a warm-up match ahead of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Opals teammates and members of the Nigerian squad claimed Cambage called his opponents “monkeys” and told them to “go back to your third world country” during a break in play.

This put her out of the game along with her Nigerian-American Los Angeles Sparks teammates and she was eventually released by the franchise.

Her comments also divided the Opals camp and she has since been blacklisted from ever representing her country again.

However, Cambage landed firmly on her feet, landing a $1 million contract with Chengdu-based Sichuan Yuanda women’s team – for just three months’ work.

Her exceptional salary means Cambage earns more than four times as much as the highest-paid WNBA stars, with Supermax contracts capped at $234,936 per season.

That money has done little to dampen the center’s character, however, after she was evicted over the weekend over two horrific incidents.

In the first, Cambage goes on a rampage and hits an opponent in the side of the head from behind while on defense.

Lucky to still be on the court, she then threw a nasty elbow to an opponent’s head while she was on offense.

This led to his ejection from the match, but Cambage was far from finished.

After refusing to leave the court while trying to get officials to review the incident on video, she rushed toward an official in a threatening manner and shouted in his face, before jeering at the crowd and curtsy.

Cambage herself shared her club highlights which were posted on Instagram, with SiChuan Yuanda Basketball Club writing: “Liz Cambage had a very efficient performance today, scoring 21 points 11reb 2ast 2stl 2blk, with 7 shots on 8 two-pointers and 1 takedown. of 1 three-point attempt.

There is no mention of the violent outbursts or her being kicked out, despite one of the highlights showing her coming into contact with the head of the same opponent featured in the other videos.

Cambage did not mention these incidents, but commented on her dismissal from the WNBA several times.

“It’s not my fault my toes make me bigger than this league,” she commented with a shrug emoji.

“It was very easy for me to walk away from horrible treatment and go enjoy my summers.”

Basketball fans were quick to criticize the Australian star for her actions, calling her a “clown” and saying “a leopard doesn’t change its place.”

As the Opals prepare for a tough campaign at the Paris Olympics, several online commentators said they were happy that Cambage was not part of the tournament.

“I’m a proud Australian, but Liz is an embarrassment not only to most Australians, but to all those ‘unbiased’ players and spectators around the world who follow the sport,” one follower posted.

“Liz has some issues to work out,” another posted.

“What a waste of talent. She could have become one of the biggest stars of all time if she wasn’t so drawn to drama. I’m so happy they kicked her out of the Opals. His behavior is just embarrassing,” added another.

Cambage’s team lost the match 96-85 as Inner Mongolia evened the series 1-1.
