Not all Alabamians are wild about the Signature General Steve Marshal at a request that the wholesale channel Costco Mothball its dei policies.
Marshall was one of the 19 State AGs that signed a letter requiring Costco to dismantle politics or explains within 30 days why she will keep them.
“The insidious training of DEI, like those defended by Costco, undermine the ideal of individualism and, ultimately, the American dream,” Marshall posted on Tuesday.
This letter follows 98% of US shareholders from Costco last week by reducing a proposal asking the company to assess and report the risks associated with their dei efforts.
“Our efforts concerning diversity, equity and inclusion follow our code of ethics,” the Costco board of directors said in a press release at ABC News. “Our efforts in terms of diversity, equity and inclusion recall and strengthen with everyone in our business the importance of creating opportunities for all.”
It was not clear what the general prosecutors would do, or could, if Costco does not comply.
In the letter, the AGS has described the policies of dei as “diviminant and discriminatory” and cited a decree of President Donald Trump encouraging the private sector to end the practices.
Richard Rice of the rice firm, a lawyer for public interests in Birmingham, went so far as to send a letter to the CEO of Costco, Ron Vachris, renting the company for his commitment.
“As defenders of the public interest, we deeply recognize the courage and leadership necessary to maintain these policies, especially when the national conversation around Dei is more and more polarized and responsible for disinformation,” wrote Rice.
“Costco’s constant position in maintaining Dei’s initiatives in the face of such opposition should be applauded as a model for other companies. By parenthesis, we are convinced that membership in your position on Dei will not prevent you from solving other problems that Costco could be confronted, despite the absurdity of the Attorney General that you can only do one thing times. »»
