Conor McGregor reacts to his longtime friend getting knocked out on KSI’s latest Misfits Boxing card

Conor McGregor was quick to congratulate his friend and photographer after being knocked out at Misfits Boxing 17.

Dave Fogarty has been following the UFC legend around the world and documenting his life in and out of the Octagon for several years.

On Saturday night he swapped his camera for a pair of boxing gloves as he took on Misfits lightweight champion Deen The Great at the 3Arena in Dublin.

Fogarty was a 7-4 amateur MMA fighter before changing careers, but he was the underdog in his boxing debut against 5-0 Misfits star – real name Nurideen Shahid Shabazz.

McGregor’s personal paparazzi started well and put a lot of pressure on Deen The Great, but things fell apart early in the third frame.

Fogarty was knocked down by a right punch. The Irishman showed great courage to get up and appear to recover before being knocked down again by a much more powerful blow.

The referee stopped play before he had a chance to get up.

Deen The Great started doing McGregor’s Billionaire Strut to celebrate his move to 6-0.

Shortly after, “Notorious” reacted to the knockout on his Instagram Story.

“Great shot,” he wrote in English alongside a photo of Fogarty in combat gear.

McGregor added a message in Irish that translates to: “Colour my friend, great!”

Fogarty appeared disappointed with the outcome in his post-fight interview.

“I’m devastated,” he said.

“I came here in front of the Irish crowd, fed off them and thought I gave them a good show. He hurt me but I felt it was an early stoppage.

“There were only a few seconds left to play and if I had managed to go all the way, it would have been a success.

“I thought I won the fight, I thought I won every round so far, but that’s boxing. He’s a good champion, he hits hard, but this is my first boxing fight and it can only get better from here.

“I think I can definitely take the belt in the rematch. He’s a great champion, we had some exchanges in the preparation but it’s a question of business.”

Deen The Great got carried away during his time at the microphone.

The American challenged Ryan Garcia and Shakur Stevenson, who have been boxing at the highest level for years and would not consider facing someone who is coming off a victory over McGregor’s photographer.

He said, “I told you what I was going to do, everything I said I was going to do, I did.

“It’s one of the best countries, but we’ll have to change it to Deenland.

“I shouted out all the influencers, so call me Shakur Stevenson. Come get yourself a real belt. Shakur, Ryan Garcia, I know he’s suspended, so let’s get him to Misfits.

“All those pros backed out, so I have a lot of respect for Dave.”
