The 24-year-old is yet to sign a new contract despite being one of Chelsea’s standout players throughout the season.

With the summer transfer window approaching, Villa are keen on the midfielder ahead of their Champions League campaign next season.

However, Unai Emery’s side will first have to sell under the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules before they can complete a deal.

Gallagher has made 49 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions this season, scoring seven goals and assisting a further nine.

He acted as captain for much of the campaign amid Reece James’ long-term injury absences.

London rivals Tottenham have also been linked with a summer move but have so far been unwilling to meet their £50million asking price.

Chelsea supporters responded to such links by unfurling a large Gallagher banner in the Shed End of Stamford Bridge during their 2-0 win over Spurs.

He even assisted Trevoh Chalobah for their first goal that evening, although his future with the Blues still remains uncertain.

Gallagher is set to make his 50th appearance of the campaign for Chelsea on Sunday when they host Bournemouth on the final day.

Mauricio Pochettino, who admitted not to be involved in the midfielder’s future, could see his side secure European qualification.

Chelsea only need a point against the Cherries to secure European football for next season, with the Europa Conference League currently in 6th.

However, if they stay in this position and Manchester City win the FA Cup final against Manchester United, they will then qualify for the Europa League.

They could also overtake Spurs and finish fifth with a win to seal their place in European football’s second-tier competition, but the north London side are expected to lose to Sheffield United.
