The Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (POST) has suspended a Boston police officer who is facing domestic violence and drug charges following a Christmas Day disturbance at his Hull home.
In a ruling dated Dec. 30, POST said it was suspending the law enforcement license of Boston police Officer Terrence Muarry, 31, a four-year veteran of the department.
The suspension comes a week after Murray was arrested after allegedly throwing a holiday gift at his fiancé, pushing her, and punching a hole in the door, according to officials.
Police who were called to the residence searched Murray’s Jeep, where they located his department-issued firearm loaded and unlocked with a round in the chamber, officials said. Investigators said they also found parts of his police uniform, ammunition, and a lock box containing more than three dozen doses of Anavar and four milliliters of testosterone.
Murray was charged with one count of assault and battery on a family or household member, one count of improper storage of a firearm, one count of vandalizing property, and two counts of possessing steroids and testosterone, which are class E drugs. He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Following an investigation, POST said it found “sufficient evidence” to immediately suspend Murray’s license. In the ruling, POST ordered that Murray surrender any agency-issued credentials and equipment “that promote and support the performance of functions associated with service as a law enforcement officer.” Those items include his gun, badge, uniform, cruiser, and use-of-force instruments such as Tasers.
Murray’s suspension will remain in effect until the commission makes a final ruling.
Murray is due back in court for a hearing on Feb. 7.
