Sound the alarm because Christina Aguilera talks about her most iconic looks.
Twenty years after the superstar released her ‘Dirrty’ music video – in which she stripped down to a bikini top and leggings – she reflects on her style evolution.
“I felt so bad about not conforming,” the 41-year-old said in a recent video for vogue. “I wanted the exaggerated look.”
And that’s what she got – haters be damned. “It was really something at the time that would never have been accepted on a red carpet,” said the “Beautiful” sing. “But it was part of my love of rebellion to know that it offended some people, people who were like ‘how could she? “”
The point of her Bare style, she told Vogue, had to be the complete opposite of the image of a flawless pop star. “I wanted this album to embrace all the different sides of being a woman,” she said. “To feel empowered and strong, to own my sexuality, not what a guy thinks it should be.”
