Collapse of the Bangkok tower: Chinese entrepreneurs under control

Friday, at least 13 people died when the tower of the state audit office in the Bangkok district in Bangkok collapsed on the ground, with thermal imagery suggesting that dozens of bodies remain buried in the wreck.

The construction of the tower – a joint venture between the Italian -Thai development company in Thailand and the engineering group of the Chinese railway number 10, a local subsidiary of the Chinese Chinese group China Railway – began in 2020, but the project of 60 million US dollars had already faced delays and allegations of irregularities.

The tests on the steel reinforcement bars used in the building revealed lower quality materials in certain samples, according to Nontichai Likhitaporn, director of inspections at Thai Industrial Standards Institute. Investigators have not yet confirmed if the materials have caused collapse.
