Cole Palmer scores 16-minute hat-trick, including ‘goal of the season contender’

Cole Palmer showed his class in Chelsea’s clash with Everton, scoring a stunning hat-trick in the space of 16 minutes in the first half.

The Chelsea star broke the deadlock with a stunning solo goal in the 13th minute when he beat the defender before curling a magnificent left-footed strike past Jordan Pickford.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Danny Murphy said: “This boy is a player. What a joy to watch.

“This could be one of the goals of the season.”

Palmer could have scored two moments later when he found himself on a fizzing cross-shot on the goal line, only to miss from close range.

But you can never hold a good man down and a few minutes later the 21-year-old managed to get his second of the game.

Following good work from Noni Madueke, Nicolas Jackson slotted an effort towards goal which was parried by Jordan Pickford, only for Palmer to burst into the box and head home to make it 2-0.

And in the 29th minute the score was 3-0, with Palmer getting his third goal by intercepting Pickford’s stray pass before expertly lobbing the England stopper.

The goals mean the former Man City starlet has now scored 10 goals in his last 10 games for the club.

It also meant back-to-back hat-tricks for Palmer at Stamford Bridge following his three goals against Manchester United earlier this month.

Things then got even better for Chelsea before half-time when Jackson got his reward with a brilliant volley effort to make it 4-0 at the break.
