Cole Palmer, Alexis Mac Allister, and Kai Havertz miss out as stats name Premier League signing of the season
As the Premier League season heads towards an exciting climax, all the big questions arise.

With plenty to choose from, they’ve given us the top ten based on their popular rating system, and a few omissions might surprise you…
10. Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool) – rating 6.97
After a good start to the season, Dominik Szoboszlai seems to have lost his momentum a little, although an injury disrupted his campaign.
The Hungarian scored three goals and provided two assists for Liverpool in his first season in England.
Although it’s possible to suggest the latter output should be higher, with the 23-year-old averaging 2.2 key passes per 90.

9. Kai Havertz (Arsenal) – rating 6.99
Conversely, while Szoboslazi started brightly, Kai Havertz flattered to deceive during the first few months of his time at Arsenal, but really began to shine after being deployed up front.
The 24-year-old now has nine goals and five assists to his name in the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.
Most of these contributions came in 2024 by playing in attack.
As such, Havertz now boasts a WhoScored.com rating of 6.99 this season.
8. James Ward-Prowse (West Ham) – rating 7.06
James Ward-Prowse scored his sixth league goal of the season in West Ham’s 2-1 win over Wolves at the weekend as he continues to excel for the Hammers.
The central midfielder has proven a solid addition to West Ham’s XI following his big-money arrival from Southampton last summer, with his 37 key passes from set pieces placing him third in England’s top tier this season.
7. Ross Barkley (Luton) – rating 7.15
Ross Barkley has been a revelation for Luton after arriving on a free transfer.
The midfielder has scored four goals and provided four assists for the Hatters this season and is the driving force in Rob Edwards’ side’s midfield having completed the fifth most dribbles (57) in the division .
6. Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool) – score 7.16
One of Liverpool’s most consistent players this season, Alexis Mac Allister has taken his game to the next level in recent weeks.
Now enjoying greater freedom moving forward, the Argentine has scored four goals and provided five assists for the Reds in 2023/24.
Wataru Endo’s form in defensive midfield has helped the Argentine earn a WhoScored.com rating of 7.16.
5. Mohammed Kudus (West Ham) – rating 7.18
Having initially struggled to secure a regular first-team place at West Ham following his summer arrival from Ajax, Mohammed Kudus has emerged as a key man for the Hammers.
No West Ham player has achieved a better WhoScored.com rating than Kudus (7.18) in the Premier League this season.
The 23-year-old completed more dribbles (91) than any other player.
4. Jeremy Doku (Man City) – rating 7.25
After a good start to life at Manchester City, Jeremy Doku’s performances have dipped, with the Belgian returning a WhoScored.com rating of 7.25 this season.
The one-goal, four-assist salvo against Bournemouth in November seems a long way off but, despite that, Doku is impressed when called upon.
The 21-year-old has completed the second most dribbles (72) in the Premier League this season.
3. James Maddison (Tottenham) – rating 7.31
At one point, James Maddison was the Premier League’s standout performer, however, an injury during the 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in November saw the Tottenham midfielder’s form dip.
That being said, Maddison has always shone in North London, as evidenced by a WhoScored.com rating of 7.31.
2. Cole Palmer (Chelsea) – rating 7.34
While his move to Chelsea raised eyebrows last summer, Cole Palmer has been one of the few shining lights for the struggling Blues this season, having earned a WhoScored.com rating of 7.34.
Palmer has 16 goals and nine assists in England’s top flight this season, with the latter bested by only three players, all with ten assists.
Without him, Chelsea would be in a much worse situation, and that’s saying something!
1. Declan Rice (Arsenal) – rating 7.35
Placing Palmer in first place as the Premier League’s highest-rated new signing, Declan Rice’s WhoScored.com rating of 7.35 is the seventh best overall for England this season.
The 25-year-old has proven to be a handy attacking tool for the Gunners this season, having scored six goals and provided five assists.
His success rate of 91 per cent is also solid, with Rice settling in superbly at the Emirates.
