A Colorado middle school hosted a Genders & Sexualities Alliance (GSA) club, where students learned about LGBTQ issues and were told to keep the conversation confidential, a former student’s mother claimed in a viral video.
Erin Lee, whose daughter attended Wellington Middle School in Wellington, said in an interview with conservative media that her daughter was invited to the club by her art teacher last May, and an outside speaker told the students at the club that “what you hear here, stays here.”

“She explained to my daughter that if she’s not 100% comfortable in her female body, then she’s transgender,” Lee said. “She then told the kids that the parents weren’t safe and it was okay to lie to them about where they were at this meeting.”
“She doubled down that parents aren’t safe [and] that heterosexuality and monogamy are not normal,” the mother said.
The Poudre School District confirmed the existence of the club and that the conversations “may be confidential”, but declined to address specific allegations made by Lee “to protect the privacy of the student and his family”.
“In PSD, we promise to create and sustain equitable, inclusive, and rigorous educational opportunities, outcomes, and experiences for all students,” the district said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “As a district, we are committed to making our schools safe spaces in which all students can learn.
“Gender and Sexuality Alliances, or GSAs, were created as safe spaces for members of the LGBTQIA+ community, their allies, and anyone wishing to come together with the goal of ensuring inclusiveness, safety and support Discussions in GSAs can be confidential given that they can sometimes be of a sensitive nature (i.e. a student may be “out” with specific friends but not with the community in as a whole),” he continued. “In PSD, a GSA Club can be Student Sponsored, which is started/run/directed by a student and an adult attending the meetings; or School Sponsored, which is started/run/directed by an adult. The Wellington Middle School is sponsored by the school.”
The district said it had raised the issue with Lee “several times over the past year” and that his daughter was no longer registered with the district.
Lee said in her interview with New American Magazine that her daughter now attends a private Christian school and is “doing much better.”
According to the parenting rights group Parents Defending Education (PDE), the club’s speaker’s name is Kimberly Chambers, who is the director of SPLASH Youth of Northern Colorado and the community health improvement plan coordinator for the county. by Larimer.

According to email correspondence obtained by PDE between Chambers and the girl’s art teacher, Chambers expressed concerns about the girl’s welfare due to her mother’s objections to the club. After the teacher mentioned that the girl hadn’t been to school since the controversy began, Chambers suggested speaking with the school administration “about doing a checkup or whatever. is in the policies of the school”.
Chambers did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
