Scott Eastwood gives an update on his father, Clint Eastwood, six months after the death of the Oscar winner’s girlfriend.
“He’s good. He’s doing well,” Eastwood, 38, told PEOPLE. “He’s a survivor, a soldier.”
Clint’s partner of 10 years, Christina Sandera, died of a heart attack at the age of 61 last July. At the time, the legendary Oscar winner released a statement saying, “Christina was a lovely and caring woman, and I will miss her dearly.”
Asked what his father taught him about resilience, Eastwood says, “It’s in our blood. You don’t complain. You’re not complaining. Do it.
He notes that the 94-year-old Dirty Harry Icon “was born at the end of the Great Depression, then he was a young man during World War II. He saw a lot of struggle.
“There is no room for complaints,” he continues.
Eastwood – who first broke out 10 years ago in Nicholas Sparks’ romantic drama The longest journey – credits his father for his career path. “It’s the reason I’m in this industry. It’s like anyone else. If your father is a carpenter, maybe you would become a carpenter,” he says.
The Monterey, Calif. native (his mother is former flight attendant Jacelyn Reeves) told PEOPLE in 2015 that he spent his childhood being “dragged around movie sets.”

He later played smaller roles in his father’s films, Greater Turin And Flags of our fathers. If he plans to work with his father again, Eastwood isn’t saying. “Every time I’ve had the chance to work with my father, it’s been a great experience,” the actor says now, adding that his father is an “inspiration.”
Eastwood worked with another icon in his latest film, Warning. In the action thriller, he takes on Sylvester Stallone, whom he calls “tough guy.”

“What I like about guys like Stallone is that they have this iconography behind them so the audience can immediately believe who they are because they have all this history,” he continues.

Growing up around Hollywood, Eastwood must have crossed paths with Rambo icon previously? The actor admits that his memory is somewhat fragile.
“I think I did. I don’t really remember,” he said. “I think I met him in passing. Maybe!”
