Chuck Todd quits NBC’s Meet the Press

It’s the end of an era for NBC Meet the press.

chuck todd announced that he was set to quit the morning news show after serving as host and moderator for more than eight years. NBC News’ Kristen Welker will resume his role Meet the press in September.

“While today won’t be my last show, it will be my last summer here at Meet the press“, said Todd on the June 4 show. “It was an incredible race of almost ten years. I’m really proud of what this team and I have built over the last decade, frankly, the last 15 years, which also includes my time as political director. I loved this job so much, helping explain America to Washington and explaining Washington to America.”

Todd continued, “The key to the survival of any of these media entities, including here at Meet the press, is for leaders not to overstay their welcome. I’d rather leave a little too early than stay a little too long.”
