“Little by little, I started to discover myself. In town, there were artistic stores and thrift stores, where I created a character,” said Hendricks in the interview. “I was a blonde, but I loved Ann-Margret and Lucille Ball, so my mother suggested that I change my color in red with rinse.” This is how she came to bright red that we all know her for the moment.

Elsewhere in the interview, Hendricks opened on the spotlight in the successful program and revealed that she had originally auditioned for the role of Peggy Olson, who was played by The history of the servant Star Elisabeth Moss. She decided not to do it because she felt that she was “too old for the role”.
“So I auditioned for Joan, the office director, and Midge, the girlfriend of Don Draper Beatnik,” said Hendricks. “I thought she was the sexier and more exciting role, but we landed on Joan.”
