After a Murillo own goal gave Spurs an early lead, Wood popped up with an equalizer to make it 1-1.

The strike was his fourth in four Premier League games, showing that confidence is currently high with the New Zealand star.

However, that confidence was quickly shaken when he missed a huge opportunity from close range, opting for power rather than placement as his effort hit the post.

Aside from potentially proving expensive, fans on social media couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

One fan wrote: “Chris Wood is the lady of the century.”

Another said: “Sensational miss from Chris Wood, who (unnecessarily) looks for maximum power from a yard out and with Vicario on deck, and hits the post.”

A third supporter wrote: “What a failure of Chris Wood! An absolute role model!”

Meanwhile, a fourth fan wrote: “How the hell did Chris Wood miss this.” »

Woods’ failure certainly proved costly, with goals from Micky Van de Ven and Pedro Porro earning Tottenham a 3-1 victory.

This victory allows Spurs to move up to fourth place in the table, while Forest remain outside the relegation zone on goal difference.
