Chris Jericho Talks AEW’s Growth, Future of Wrestling & Becky Lynch Rumors!

Chris Jerichohas been with AEW since day one, and five years later, the promotion continues, and the wrestling legend is still kicking ass…so when the FTW champ stopped by the TMZ offices , we asked about the whirlwind. Becky Lynch rumors – could “The Man” be All Elite?!

Jericho, 53, in Los Angeles for Dynamitesat down with Babcock Tuesday morning… where the guys discussed everything from Chris’ early days in professional wrestling, to his big stint in All Elite Wrestling – where he just retained his FTW belt at Double or nothing — how much longer he wants to compete, and Tony Khanefforts to continue growing their brand, and much more.

Regarding Lynch, there has been a lot of speculation about Becky’s future after she lost her WWE Women’s World Championship to Liv Morgan on Monday’s episode of Raw. Lynch, whose contract with WWE is reportedly up, was reportedly very emotional after the match…and many were speculating she might be headed elsewhere.

Elsewhere like… AEW.

We asked Jericho about the rumors…and if they were true.

“Five years ago, Becky wouldn’t have any other options. I’m not saying she’s coming (to AEW), but there is an option. And who knows what could happen?” Jericho said.

“No one thought Jericho would come to AEW. No one thought Moxley would come or Brian Danielson Or Adam Cole or any of these guys who came. So it’s exciting for the fans. And it’s exciting for the wrestlers, for the talent, because now if there’s a bidding war, it only benefits (us, the wrestlers).”

Chris said the current rivalry between WWE and AEW reminds him of the old school battles of the mid-90s.

“Look, that was one of the things about being in the Attitude Era and the Monday Night Wars with Nitro and Raw. You never knew who was going to show up. And when someone new came along, from whatever side it was , on the other hand, it made things even more exciting.”

“There are so many more matches you can have. So many more opportunities to see guys compete that you would never have thought of. So it’s a really exciting time in wrestling.”

FYI, Becky, whose husband is WWE Superstar Seth Rollinshas yet to address her future…and Chris says he has no information on whether or not she will sign with the company.

As for how much longer he’ll be wrestling, Jericho says he feels fantastic – physically, mentally and emotionally – and he doesn’t see himself stopping anytime soon.
