The Mexican food chain announced on Monday its partnership with Alsea, a restaurant operator in Latin America and Europe, to open a location in Mexico at the beginning of 2026. The chain also said that it would start to explore additional expansion markets in the region.
“We are convinced that our real food in a responsible manner and classic cooked will resonate with guests in Mexico,” said Nate Lawton, director of business development at Chipotle. “The country’s familiarity with our ingredients and our affinity for fresh foods make it an attractive growth market for our business.”
Chipotle in July 2023 signed an international development agreement, its first, with Alshaya Group to open restaurants in the Middle East; They operate together three restaurants in Kuwait and two in the United Arab Emirates, the company said. Chipotle also has and operates 58 locations in Canada; 20 in the United Kingdom; Six in France; and two in Germany.
Most chipotle revenues come from its American operations; It had more than 3,600 domestic restaurants at the end of the year.
Chipotle should bring back its earnings on Wednesday afternoon; In February, he pointed out that sales growth with comparable stores in the fourth quarter is lower than Wall Street analysts. Actions are down more than 20% this year.
